A large crowd looked on as Hertz’s CEO Mark Frissora, Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Lee County Commissioner Larry Kiker dug a ceremonial shovel of dirt at the Hertz groundbreaking ceremony held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.
Included among those sharing the dais were: State Senator Lizbeth Benacquisto, State Reps. Matt Caldwell, Dane Eagle, Heather Fitzenhagen and Ray Rodrigues; Lee County Commissioners Brian Hamman, Frank Mann, John Manning and Cecil Pendergrass.
The by-invitation-only guests enjoyed special hors d’oeuvres, drinks, floral arrangements and small memento gift bags, all ablaze in Hertz yellow.
Hertz is expected to bring about 700 jobs to Estero initially, with about 350-400 filled locally and the remaining positions filled by those relocating from New Jersey. At the groundbreaking event Frissora indicated that Hertz is growing rapidly and will likely create even more Estero jobs in the future.
The actual construction of the three story headquarters building is scheduled to begin early next year, with employees moving into the building by mid-2015.
