Meeting MinutesESTERO DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEENovember 12, 2003 5:00 P.M. The Vines Country Club – The Perry Room Meeting Time: 5:00 P.M. Attendees: Wayne Robinson, Bob Flato, Diane Ferrando, Cynthia Caterham, Gordon Lyons, Al O’Donnell Not in Attendance: Bill Prysi, Ron Dillon Notes Taken by: Scott Wickett Meeting Minutes of November 12, 2003 Fee: Presentation by: Keith Jennings, Pelican Bay Development Group, Christopher Neidig, Consul-Tech Development Services Comments/Suggestions: Rear elevation appears to be facing U.S. 41 Suggested wall enclosure around dumpster with landscape screening Guavas (in parking islands) may create a sight line conflict between pedestrian and vehicular circulation EDRC understands that the quantity of signs shown on the building are for flexibility purposes, but would like to limit the signage to one per tenant Parking meets but does not exceed code requirements, including the number of handicapped parking spaces; presenters responded that extra handicapped spaces would not be necessary, as the primary tenant is a dentist rather than medical/surgical offices Fee: Presentation by: Joseph J. Bombassaro, Edixon Engineering, Charles Basinait, Esq., Henderson, Franklin, Starnes and Holt, P.A. Comments/Suggestions: Committee rejected color scheme; presenters were ready with color rendering featuring alternate (i.e., acceptable) color scheme Requested backlit signage on building Committee suggested Sabal palms in larger clusters (i.e., 5 or 7 vs. 3), as well as use staggered heights of sabal palms (ie: 10’ c.t., 14’ c.t., 18’ c.t.) Larger oaks (45 Gallon Container, 13-14’ o.a.) suggested, reduces conflicts with sight lines to signage Committee questioned whether the percentage of planted area (shrubs/groundcovers) in building perimeter and interior landscape areas was sufficient for county code requirement, would like to see much greater numbers of shrubs and groundcovers in those areas as opposed to sod Committee would like greater species diversity in shrubs and groundcovers Pine trees used in irrigated areas tend to decline over time, committee suggests another native tree be used Color scheme of garage doors to match with building Fee: Presentation by: Dan Hennelly, Tires Plus, Keith May, Spring Engineering, Clark D. East, Central Development, Wilbur Brantley, Central Development, George Calomiris Comments/Suggestions: Committee rejected the red color used around doors, windows, and garage doors, applicant agreed to change to white Requested tile roof (rather than metal) on the mansard/awning roof around front and side of building End of building has no signage facing Corkscrew Road; there is a monument sign at the north end of the building Suggest buffer palms be in clusters (3-5-7) rather than singles and staggering the heights (10’ c.t., 14’ c.t., 18’ c.t.) Parking lot islands should be filled with shrubs and groundcovers, not just four shrubs with mulch and/or sod Suggest taller growing material in rear of building, wax myrtle, walter’s viburnum, more trees or palms Indian Hawthorn and African Bush Daisy will not meet the 24” height required by LDC at installation when planted at a 3 Gallon container size, it will most likely never reach the required 36” height after one year Suggest greater species diversity of shrubs and groundcover Plan includes tree species which don’t grow in SW Florida; suggest shady lady black olive, live oak, mahogany, tabebuia for flowering as potential replacements Committee suggested larger canopy trees (ie: 45 Gallon, 13-14’ oa.) Suggested outside seating (i.e., benches) for customers Suggested more shrubs along east side of property Possibly use canvas awnings rather than suggested tile (but not metal under ANY circumstance) Vines / lattice not necessary in rear of building; committee suggests 5-6’ tall shrubs instead for screening, large shrubs at rear should be allowed to reach natural mature height not trimmed to 5’ hedge Fee: Paid $100 Presentation by: Mike Sheely, Sheely Architects (John Ezell, Coconut Point Ford, was absent) Comments/Suggestions: Question regarding lighting spillover regarding houses in Fountain Lakes; has already been addressed with Lee County Colors are not actually as loud as the color rendering presented Landscape plan acceptable Next EDRC Meeting Will be Held on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at 5:00 P.M. at The Vines Country Club – The Perry Room |
